After the wedding ◆ Surrogacy & fertility guidance

Gentle guidance on fertility and surrogacy

Trying for a baby can take longer than you hoped, and talking about it is hard enough without legal questions on top. For most couples the first conversation is with a fertility clinic about tests, treatment and IVF. We help you find licensed clinics and prepare for that first appointment, so you know what to ask.

Surrogacy is prohibited in the UAE, Bahrain and most GCC countries. We don’t arrange it. If you’re considering it, we point you towards licensed clinics and lawyers in countries where it’s legal, and we help with your child’s registration and documents afterwards.

How it works ◆

Step by step

01

We listen to where you are and what you’re hoping for. Nothing is shared without your consent.

02

We help you find licensed clinics for tests and treatment such as IVF. The clinic tells you what’s medically and legally possible for you.

03

If surrogacy is on the table, we connect you with lawyers in countries where it’s legal. They explain parentage and your home country’s rules before you commit.

04

After the birth, we help with birth registration, attestation, nationality and passports in both your countries.

Your questions ◇

Surrogacy & fertility guidance FAQ

Is surrogacy legal in the UAE?

No. Surrogacy is prohibited in the UAE, and also in Bahrain and most GCC countries. We don’t arrange surrogacy and we won’t help anyone get around the law. What we can do is point you to licensed lawyers and clinics in countries where it’s legal, so you get proper advice there.

Where should we start if we’re struggling to conceive?

Usually with a fertility specialist at a licensed clinic. They’ll run tests for both of you and explain options such as medication or IVF. What a clinic can offer may depend on your marital status, nationality and the country’s law. We help you find a clinic and prepare your questions.

Can a child born through surrogacy abroad get our nationality?

It depends on both your countries’ laws, and in some countries this is complicated or unclear. This is exactly why you should speak to a family lawyer in each relevant country before starting. We can introduce you to lawyers and later help with registration and passport applications.

Will you keep this private?

Yes. Fertility is a personal subject and we treat it that way. We only share your details with a clinic or lawyer once you’ve agreed to the introduction. You can also talk to us without committing to anything, and stop at any point. If you only want information for now, that is fine too.

We feel a lot of pressure from family. Can you help with that too?

Many couples feel it, especially when two cultures have different expectations about children. Our couple counsellors have experience with cross-cultural and interfaith relationships, and some couples find a few sessions helpful during fertility treatment. Our family support service can also help when relatives need a calmer conversation.

Do you recommend a specific clinic?

We share options that are licensed and fit your situation, and we explain why we’re suggesting them. The medical decision is always yours and your doctor’s. We don’t make medical judgements, and you’re free to choose a clinic we haven’t mentioned.
